Build the future of talent intelligence
Scientists, engineers, and operators building the most predictive cognitive assessment platform in the world.
01 — WHY LAZUL
Work at the intersection of neuroscience and AI
Lazul is a venture-backed neuroscience company turning cognitive science into operational talent intelligence. Our customers include consulting firms, professional sports teams, premier universities, and government agencies. We are growing fast and hiring people who want to build something that matters.
Solve a Hard Problem
Measuring how people actually think is one of the most difficult challenges in cognitive science. We are building the system that does it — and organizations with the highest standards trust us to get it right.
Own Your Work
Early-stage company, senior-level expectations. Every person here has direct influence on product, strategy, and outcomes. No hand-holding, no waiting for permission.
Science That Ships
We are not an academic lab. We take peer-reviewed neuroscience — validated with the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative — and turn it into software that organizations use to make real decisions.
02 — OPEN ROLES
Join the team
Data Scientist — Cognitive Modeling
Build and refine the computational models that translate 200,000+ behavioral data points per assessment into cognitive profiles. You will work directly with our Chief Science Officer to improve predictive accuracy, develop new scoring algorithms, and validate cognitive measures against real-world performance outcomes.
What we're looking for
- MS or PhD in computational neuroscience, statistics, machine learning, or a related quantitative field
- Experience with behavioral data analysis, time-series modeling, or psychometrics
- Proficiency in Python (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn) and statistical modeling frameworks
- Comfort working in a small, fast-moving team where you own outcomes end-to-end
Data Scientist — Assessment Analytics
Develop statistical frameworks for analyzing game-based assessment data at scale. Partner with neuroscientists to validate new cognitive measures, build reporting pipelines for client-facing analytics, and identify patterns in assessment data that improve how organizations evaluate talent.
What we're looking for
- MS or PhD in statistics, data science, quantitative psychology, or a related field
- Strong foundation in experimental design, hypothesis testing, and applied statistics
- Experience building data pipelines and working with large behavioral datasets
- Excellent communication skills — you will translate complex analyses into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
Software Engineer — Platform
Build and scale the platform that delivers cognitive assessments to high-performing organizations. Full-stack work across our Next.js frontend and Python backend, including client dashboards, assessment delivery infrastructure, and API integrations. You will own features from design through deployment.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience with TypeScript/React and Python in production environments
- Familiarity with Next.js, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure (AWS or Vercel)
- Strong instincts for clean architecture, testing, and performance optimization
- Ability to move fast and ship independently in a startup environment
Software Engineer — Game Engine
Design and implement the game modules that capture cognitive data with millisecond precision. This is performance-critical work at the intersection of UX, browser APIs, and cognitive science — building interactive experiences that feel engaging to candidates while collecting rich behavioral data under the hood.
What we're looking for
- Deep experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Canvas or WebGL, and browser performance optimization
- Interest in or experience with game development, interactive media, or data visualization
- Understanding of timing-sensitive applications and cross-browser compatibility
- Bonus: familiarity with cognitive science paradigms or psychophysics experimental design
Operations Analyst
Own assessment delivery operations and client onboarding as Lazul scales. Build repeatable processes for administering assessments, managing client timelines, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring data quality. You will be the operational backbone connecting our science team, engineering team, and clients.
What we're looking for
- Experience in operations, project management, or client success at a SaaS or professional services company
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in high-volume environments
- Comfort with data — you will work with assessment results, delivery metrics, and client reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Chief of Staff
Partner directly with the CEO to drive strategic initiatives, manage cross-functional projects, and ensure organizational alignment during a period of rapid growth. This role spans business development support, investor relations, internal operations, and whatever else needs to get done. Ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity and wants to build a company from the inside.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, startup operations, or a Chief of Staff role
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills
- Ability to context-switch between strategic planning and tactical execution
- High agency — you identify problems and solve them without being asked
